Well, another update at last... although in a way, this is as much of a downdate (is that even a word?) as an update. For one thing, I have decided to remove the fanfiction archive from the site--it's been up for almost a year, and in that entire time, there's been pretty much zero interest in it insofar as having fics submitted for inclusion or even having someone contact me about a work in progress. I have also been somewhat concerned about the security and stability of eFiction, the CGI script which I used to maintain the archive itself; a newer and apparently more robust version was released recently, but to be honest, I just couldn't see going to the hassle of upgrading when the archive was still sitting empty. I am not abandoning my own writing projects--far from it. They're just taking a long time to complete; I'm a terrible perfectionist, and the one fic has already reached novel-length and is still going strong! So I have created a special limited-access forum on the Message Board that will serve as a small archive for my own work, since I'll still need a place to put those stories for folks to read once I finally get them finished.
Oh, and there was one other small removal: I have deleted one photo of Jimi Jamison from the Denver portion of the Survivor Live Gallery. I decided it wasn't a flattering enough shot of him for display on this site--'nuff said.
However, this IS an update in that there is new stuff to look at! I have done some redesigning of the Jimi Jamison and Survivor related portions of the Hall of Hunks to organize them better and hopefully make it easier to navigate around them; all of the old content is still there, but some of it has been moved or split up differently than it used to be, so be sure to update any bookmarks you might have in that area. I have also revised the main essay on Jimi's Artist Page slightly, mainly to include what info I have heard about the forthcoming release of Survivor's newest studio album. And there is some completely new content--I unfortunately couldn't attend the show that Jimi and the guys did in Phoenix, AZ on the 18th of this month, but a friend of mine who lives in the area was able to go, and she has been kind enough to let me add her review alongside the two that I've written and 29 pics that she took at the show to the Survivor Live Gallery. (Thanks Shelly!)
And, to switch briefly to my other favorite Leo-Rabbit singer,
there are also 19 new pics in the Joey Tempest & Europe Gallery.
I've also updated the Site FAQ again, and added a couple of archive pages for old update notices. Anything that's older than six months or so will be placed on those pages to keep this one from getting too bloated; look for the links at the bottom of the page. That's all from me for now... look for another update hopefully by the first of the year, if not sooner...
Oh, wow... the coolest thing in the world happened to me this past Friday--I met Jimi Jamison!
(And saw another Survivor show, too!) You can read the story of the show and my meeting with his Jimi-ness here, and I've added 23 pics from the concert to the Survivor Live Gallery. I've also edited the Site FAQ a bit, just to keep one or two things current.
Have fun! ![]()
How about that, I managed another update in only a month!
All right--first of all, I have redesigned a few portions of the site slightly to make them easier to see for people using 800x600 screen resolution. Also, Chord & Sorcery now has a Site Update Mailing List--if you would like to be notified whenever I add new content, then go back out to the Main Index and enter your email address in the signup form near the bottom of the page. I've also updated the Site FAQ a bit and made some small design changes in the Hall of Hunks... I realized recently that calling the individual artist pages "Profiles" was a weensy bit misleading, as I don't use them to give actual career histories or discographies or anything like that. So all of the links to those pages from The Sexiest Men In Rock have been relabelled as "My Thoughts & Favorites," because that's really more of what they are.
The actual artist pages themselves, however, have not changed except in one small detail: I was re-reading my favored source for information on Chinese astrology not long ago, and I discovered a detail which I had somehow missed before. Apparently, while the Chinese do ascribe one of their five Elements to each calendar year, the individual seasons are also associated with Elements--spring-Wood, early summer-Fire, late summer-Earth, autumn-Metal, and winter-Water. And according to the book, it is the seasonal Element which has the most impact on one's destiny, so I did some comparisons on a thoroughly non-representative population sample (eg, I looked up myself, my husband, and a few family members and close friends
) and found that, indeed, the Element-based profiles were vastly more accurate when I considered our seasonal Elements rather than the yearly ones. So, I have altered the astrological data given for each member of the Hall of Hunks to reflect this new insight.
Finally, there is new content!
14 New pics in the David Coverdale & Whitesnake Gallery
4 New pics in the Benjamin Orr & The Cars Gallery
10 New pics in the Rudy Sarzo Gallery
4 New pics in the Adrian Vandenberg Gallery
And 5 new pics in the Jimi Jamison & Survivor Gallery (Come on, did you really think I could get through an update without something new about my current obsession?
)
I am off to continue chasing plot bunnies... enjoy!
Eeek--who stole the last five months???
I'm sorry it's been so long since I've done any updates... I'm not actually dead, just giving a very convincing imitation!
I am still chasing down the plot bunny I mentioned in my last update note, and there's always stuff to do around the house, and then His Geekiness and I just got back from a week's vacation, so... Chord & Sorcery kinda got put on the back burner for a while. However, part of our vacation yielded new material for the site, so here you go:
Read my review of the Survivor concert we attended this past Saturday in Deadwood, SD
And have a look at some pics I took at the show! ![]()
I am really going to try and do another update very soon, but we will have to see what happens... still, in the meantime, enjoy!
Only a small update today, to show off some recent Ebay winnings...
11 new pics in the Jimi Jamison & Survivor Gallery
I've changed Jimi's portrait pic in the Sexiest Men In Rock listing, too... the new one is from the same photo shoot as the old but is a better version of the pic, IMO...
Anyway, I hope everyone is having a great new year, and hopefully I will be able to do another update soon--Ebay has been VERY good to me lately and I have lots and lots of new things to scan. However, I also have a plot bunny that's been attacking me left, right, and center and I've been trying to concentrate on it in the hopes of getting it finished and up in the fanfic archive... we shall see what wins out first!
That's all from me for now... enjoy!
