My parents have always been avid outdoors-people in addition to inveterate "do-it-yourselfers," and one of the things they've enjoyed most about living in New Mexico has been all the wildlife that they can observe up close and personal. (Though my mom hates snakes, and has not been so thrilled with the possibility of encountering them!) They happen to be on the migration paths for many different bird species, so they get a huge variety of visitors to the "feeding station" behind their screen porch, and to the sugar-water feeders hung around the property--Mom claims that she could go broke just buying birdseed and sugar to make nectar for the hummingbirds! But at least the birds and little furries, unlike television, are an endless source of interest and entertainment, and I have to admit, I'm jealous...
