Jimi Jamison - Music Video Links - |
||
Note: This page is for MTV-style clips (well, okay, and one
professionally filmed vintage live performance) only. There are
absolute SCADS of Jimi/Survivor concert videos out there, and keeping
up with each and every one would be impossible; you can find a few of
my particular favorites at the Links page,
but otherwise you'll have to do your own exploring via YouTube or your
favorite search engine.
(Also, all links will open in a new window.)

I Can't Hold Back
(video at musicplayon.com)
|
I can see the ad in the paper now--"Wanted: Woman to make out with
Jimi Jamison." (They probably had more applicants than they knew what
to do with... heck, they wouldn't even have had to
pay me...
Also worth watching for the glimpse of Stephan Ellis (Survivor's bass player) dressed as a nun.

The Search Is Over (video at dailymotion.com)
|
Oooh, we get to hear Jimi talk! And that bit at the end with him and
the girl just makes me melt...

Survivor
High On You (video at musicplayon.com)
|
Naturally, this clip holds a bit of a special place in my heart since
it was the first Survivor video I ever saw. I remember watching it and
thinking, "Oh, cool, I finally get to see what all the guys in this
band look like. My word... that singer's quite the hunk, isn't he? Look
at those shoulders, and arms, and hands... good grief, he looks like
he ought to be off playing football somewhere, not singing for a rock
band!" |
Survivor
Burning Heart (video at musicplayon.com)
|
This is the version WITHOUT clips from Rocky IV edited in, from the Survivor Greatest Hits home video. (Jimi gets more camera time than in the MTV version, and more Jimi is always better in my book!) |
Survivor
Is This Love (video at musicplayon.com)
|
Man, Jimi looks hot in this one... black really suits him...
|
Survivor
Man Against The World (video at musicplayon.com)
|
(Note: This particular video is mislabeled on the hosting site as "Didn't Know It Was Love," but I've checked and it is actually the clip for "Man Against The World.")
This is one of my favorite Survivor songs anyway, but the video is a
really cool concept, and Jimi looks fabulous--if I can't
get him shirtless, I'll take him in a V-neck any day...

Survivor
Across The Miles (video at YouTube)
|
There are a couple of places in this where I don't think the "atmospheric" lighting flatters Jimi very much (and, alas, they're mostly close-ups) but I do think it's cool to actually see him playing guitar for once. |
Survivor
Didn't Know It Was Love (video at YouTube)
|
Jimi. Long hair. Tight jeans. Shirt open halfway down. Sigh...
However, on a far more somber note, while I had finally solved the mystery of the cute blond drummer--his name is Kyle Woodring, and his website is still available here if you'd like to learn more about him--I regret to report that he is no longer with us. Apparently he struggled with clinical depression for most of his life, and committed suicide as a result of it on September 8th, 2009. Sigh. Very sad; RIP, Kyle. |
Jimi Jamison
I'm Always Here (video at YouTube)
|
(Note: This is the full-length version of the song which was featured as the theme on the TV Show Baywatch when it went into syndication on cable.) I confess that the song itself has never been one of my favorites, but, well, video footage of Jimi is cool almost by definition, and the fact that he was still wearing his hair long when this clip was shot just puts the seal on the deal for me... |
Cobra
Blood On Your Money (video at MySpace)
|
A nice glimpse of Jimi from a little earlier in his musical career.
(And apparently he was wearing leather pants even before he joined
Survivor!

Jimi Jamison (& Friends)
When Rock Was King (video at YouTube)
|
Oh, come on--for someone like me who would gladly relive the 80's (at
least in a musical sense) if such were possible, does anyone out there
honestly think I could do something OTHER than love both the song AND
the video?
|
(video at YouTube)
|
Okay, I admit, I don't quite "get" this video... I'm sure the director
was trying to make some sort of artistic statement with the bits about
the girl/angel, but darned if I can figure out just what he was trying
to say. Oh well, at least Jimi is looking delicious, as always--I mean,
a white shirt AND a black leather jacket? I think I might have died and
gone to heaven...

Another one where the song isn't one of my particular favorites, but the video is nice... I always enjoy seeing Jimi with a guitar in his hands, and the sunny, outdoor setting seems to suit him well, too. |
(video at YouTube)
|
(Note: This is the original, official clip uploaded by Starhouse Records. I'm given to understand that there's a remix of the song out there with a rather more, erm, controversial video, but I haven't sought it out. "Long Time" is BY FAR my favorite track from OMT's History album and I think it's absolutely perfect just as is, so I really have no interest in hearing--or seeing--someone else's take on it.) Okay, I adore both the song AND the video, but WHY does Jimi insist on obscuring those gorgeous eyes of his with dark glasses at every turn? Yeah, the shades are cool and everything, but dang it, some of us would really rather he left them off... sigh... |
and full 1080p, for that matter, but I can't seem
to link directly to it; you'll have to go to the 720 one and then use
the gear icon on the player widget if you want to watch it at the higher resolution
(video at YouTube)

A nicely done clip... love Himself in his jeans and cowboy boots, of course, and several members of his real-life family are featured in this video, as well. The young man in the middle segment is (I believe) his step-son Josh, and the woman and little girl giving out flowers towards the end are his daughter Amy and granddaughter Lola. |

Live in Nagoya, Japan (YouTube Playlist)
|
This is a concert filmed during the When Seconds Count tour in 1987. There are 9 songs/videos in total:
"Caught In The Game"
The video quality is really pretty good considering the age of the
footage, but I for one forgot about pretty much all such mundane
considerations upon seeing Jimi in his stage outfit.
